URBEX - Urban Exploration

Why this urge to be on top of the world?

This question has been asked numerous times. “Because it’s there”, is probably the shortest version of an answer. Curiously enough it is only asked by people who haven’t seen a city from the highest point.
The highest point of a city is a magical and challenging space, where Urban Explorers seek to find the rush that can only be felt when overlooking an entire town.
The biggest buildings, cranes, chimneys and other places high in the sky has always fascinated us. Especially at night where the light of the city and that special urban silence emerges, it gives a giant rush to look out at the city at such a great height.

Another way of answering the question could be this, written by Anders at cphcph.com:
I think another crucial fact is that there is just no way of getting any further. All you can do is stop and enjoy the experience for there isn’t anything else to do at such a point. You have reached the top in more than one sense. Personally, I enjoy the silence a lot. Just to calm down and know that the rest of the world won’t disturb until you return to the crowds. That is all in all something I treasure about UrbEx – the peace and tranquility to experience a place without being interrupted.
